Our Experience Using Backdrop
After spending time with Backdrop, we came away impressed by one thing in particular: it feels like a Mac app rather than a wallpaper utility ported from another platform.

Everyday Usability

Cindori says Backdrop typically uses around 0.3% CPU on an M1 Max MacBook Pro. While we didn’t measure CPU usage ourselves, the app felt exceptionally lightweight during everyday use, and we rarely noticed any impact on performance.
That attention to efficiency isn’t entirely surprising. Cindori already has a strong track record of building performance-conscious Mac utilities like Sensei, so it wasn’t surprising to see the same attention paid to Backdrop’s resource usage.

The only downside is consistency. While we’ve found some excellent community creations, we also came across wallpapers that didn’t meet the same quality standard as the official collection.
