CleanMyMac Gets a Revamp: Discover What’s New in the Latest Version
By TheSweetBits
Mac users, rejoice! The newly-released MacPaw CleanMyMac is redefining how we maintain and optimize our Macs. With its sleek redesign and enhanced features, it promises to keep your device running smoothly, ensuring you get the most out of your Apple experience.
Key points. Here are some new features that caught our eye:
A brand new design.
The ability to now detect and delete duplicate files.
Improved cleanup tool that can remove up more junk files for a smoother running Mac.
Handy menu bar that shows your system’s performance.
New Mac health assistant.
New battery monitor.
An Apple notarized application.
How it performs. We’ve taken CleanMyMac for a spin to see what it can really do. Here’s a breakdown of some functions and our thoughts:
CleanMyMac X’s revamped interface is sleek and user-friendly, but it may hide some of the functions you might use frequently. We experienced this ourselves – it took a little extra clicking to find some of the features we were used to. On the other hand, some users (see below quotes from social users) seem to be enjoying the fresh look, and the new layout is designed with minimalistic appeal, making it feel right at home on any Mac screen.
CleanMyMac has always been known for its robust cleaning capabilities, and it seems this version steps it up a notch. The tool effectively uninstalls applications and finds duplicate files. This is a big win for us – a clean system with minimal clutter is a happy system.
The tool includes new deeper scans and more efficient cleaning algorithms ensure a more thorough cleanup of system junk, application leftovers, and hidden caches. We’re always on the lookout for ways to optimize our Macs, so this is a promising addition.
Another new feature is “My Clutter.” This seems to be a way to identify and manage large, duplicated and unused files. While this sounds useful for reclaiming storage space, we concern about the privacy implications of the “Privacy” section of CleanMyMac. It’s important to be mindful of what data you’re giving an app access to, so we’ll be sure to investigate this area further before diving in.
It’s important to remember that these are just our initial impressions based on draft test. We’ll be sure to put CleanMyMac through its paces and provide a more comprehensive review in the near future.
Who benefits. This upgraded CleanMyMac caters to a wide range of Mac users:
Novice Users: The intuitive interface makes it easy for beginners to keep their Macs clean and optimized.
Power Users: Advanced features like Smart Monitors and automation tools offer more granular control.
Creative Professionals: By freeing up disk space, CleanMyMac enables creatives to store more high-resolution images and videos. Additionally, performance optimizations ensure smoother editing and rendering workflows, increasing productivity.
What was said. CleanMyMac has been met with positive reviews from major tech publications:
MacRumors: “The redesigned CleanMyMac offers a welcome refresh and delivers on its promise of a cleaner, faster Mac.”
Forbes: “The new CleanMyMac update goes beyond basic cleaning to provide a comprehensive suite of optimization tools.”
Mac Observer: “CleanMyMac is a powerful all-in-one tool that keeps your Mac running at peak performance.”
How-To Geek: “CleanMyMac (2024) offers similar features, but with a fresh coat of paint.”
Actual quotes from users. Besides tech media sites, we also take a look at what users are saying on X:
“I gotta say the new cleanmymac is sooooooooo well done. I think I’ve cleared over 100gb of space in just 30 mins. Such a sense of relief having the software run through files and diagnostics so thoroughly.”
“Great app but I wish there was a free update for the previously bought version and loyal customers.”
“I love the new redesign, but really miss the dedicated tab for checking for software updates. I don’t need/want any of the other software checks. Hopefully, they’ll bring it back in a future update, so I can JUST check for and see software updates.”
“I much prefer the previous design. The new version feels overly ornate for my taste and tends to strain my eyes.”
“Real-time malware detection on CleanMyMac. During my time in Kyiv, I sat down with both the heads of product and research at Moonlock, MacPaw’s cybersecurity arm. I’m so impressed with what it’s doing. The future of Moonlock is going to be something to watch.”
More. Here are some additional posts on X that we thought were worthing mention:
@ahmad_elhelaly As you know, Iam crazy about cleanmymac, but I was surprised that the upgrade is paid. Unfortunately, the amount is very large. It seems that I will be forced to use the current version. Anyway, thanks for everything you provide.
@mizaelxav I have some feedback about CleanMyMac app. In the “accumulation manager” feature, the app should be allowed to delete all items of a specific category at once. For example, after scan, there are duplicate files. I want to delete all the items with duplicate files, but I don’t have that option. I have to review them one by one, which is nearly impossible due to the large number of files.
@cleanmymac We won’t take your CleanMyMac X from you. You can use CleanMyMac X as long as it’s compatible with your Mac or your macOS version. However, exploring new features and cutting-edge technologies will be available through the new CMM exclusively.
