Screen recording has become an essential tool for various tasks, whether you’re creating tutorials, capturing gameplay, or documenting a task. While this is handy, the biggest issue when recording a screen with audio is that there isn’t arguably a reliable tool that addresses different recording needs.

In this guide, I will first demonstrate how to screen record in Windows 10 or 11 using the inbuilt tools offered by Windows on my HP Victus 15 running Windows 11, followed by a walk-through of handy tools for different recording needs.

Why Built-in Windows Screen Recording Tools Fall Short

After recording the screen with audio using Windows Game Bar and Snipping Tool, I encountered several issues:

Limitations of Game Bar

  • The Game Bar was inconsistent and often failed to appear when I attempted to record my gameplay. Additionally, the settings differ between Windows 10 and 11, making it challenging to modify the audio recording options.
  • Even though it is designed to record games, it failed to recognize most games, so I had to select the application manually. For screen recordings other than games, the Game Bar performed poorly, so I tried the Snipping Tool.

Limitations of Snipping Tool

  • The enhanced Snipping Tool on Windows 11 made screen recording with audio straightforward. I was able to record various applications, and switching between apps hasn’t affected its performance, but the lack of options and features felt limiting.
  • While it struggles with recording games, it is capable of meeting basic recording needs. However, it doesn’t offer sharing and collaboration capabilities.

Screen Record with Audio for Streaming/Gaming

Capturing and sharing gaming and streaming content has never been more popular. To help you find the right tool for the job, we put EaseUS RecExpert to the test.

When I tested EaseUS RecExpert for gaming and streaming, it detected most games, loaded up without issues, and was capable of recording up to 4K UHD quality gameplay.

It also supports streaming at up to 144fps and is compatible with various recording sources, with the added benefit of AI Noise Reduction and sharing capabilities. The recording was stable throughout, with no dropped frames, as it consumed minimal system resources.

Here’s how to use EaseUS RecExperts for gameplay recording with audio:

  1. Open EaseUS RecExperts on your device. You will see two recording options: Full Screen to record the entire screen or Region to select the recording area manually.
    RecExperts SelectRegion
  1. Choose whether to record the webcam, system sound, microphone, or none. You can also set options for auto-split and auto-recording.
  2. Click the REC button to start recording. A menu bar will appear on your screen. To pause the recording, click the white double vertical bar, and to stop it, click the red square.
  3. After recording, you will be taken to the list interface, where you can view or edit your recordings.

Screen Record with Audio for Presentation

While the Snipping Tool was efficient in recording presentations with audio, it cannot record using the camera, which is the most essential part of a presentation.

Hence, I taken Wondershare DemoCreator for this purpose. I was able to record the presentation with audio alongside the camera turned on. I also had the flexibility to choose the camera and microphone recording devices, frame rate, and custom recording area selection.

DemoCreator

Here’s how to use DemoCreator for presentation recording with audio:

  1. Launch Wondershare DemoCreator and select the Screen + Webcam
  2. Turn on System Audio, Microphone, and WebCam using the toggle buttons on the interface.
    DemoCreator select
  1. Hover over the WebCam option to choose your preferred recording style, such as a circle, mirrored display, or facial recognition.
  2. Tap the recording button in DemoCreator. Your face will appear on the side of the PPT presentation screen.

Final words

Windows offers built-in tools like the Game Bar and Snipping Tool for basic screen recording, but they have limitations. The Game Bar can be inconsistent and lacks proper game recognition, while the Snipping Tool is straightforward but missing advanced features and sharing options.

EaseUS RecExperts is perfect for gamers and streamers. It provides stable 4K UHD recording, up to 144fps streaming, webcam recording, and AI Noise Reduction.

On the other hand, DemoCreator is excellent for presentations and educational content. It allows simultaneous screen and webcam recording and has customizable settings.

While I have selected them for specific recording purposes, rest assured that both tools are versatile and cater to a wide range of recording needs. If you’re confused about choosing the right tool for screen recording, check out their trial versions and keep an eye on open-source screen recording tools like OBS and ShareX.
